WhatsApp declared that the desktop version of this messaging app brings a new way of staying in touch anywhere and anytime for the users.

The Facebook-owned WhatsApp has launched an updated desktop version for expanding its user base. The app’s desktop version will support Windows 8 and Mac OS 10.9 and above as well. As posted in WhatsApp official blog, “We are introducing a desktop app so you have a new way to stay in touch anytime and anywhere whether on your phone or computer at home or work.” Similar to the WhatsApp web, the desktop app will simply serve as an extension of the phone this app mirrors messages and conversations from your mobile.

The company has promised to be in sync with a mobile app for updating users, however, the Mountain view-based firm has started to bring more functionality. Since the application runs on the desktop natively, you will get support for the native desktop notifications and much more. This desktop version will be just like the WhatsApp web, which lets you text with family and friends while keeping the phone in your pocket. Users can simply download it directly from the firm’s website, scan the QR code by using their mobile for which, you need to search the ‘WhatsApp web’ option under settings.

The company recently processed an end-to-end encryption through the messaging platform for ensuring users about the security of their conversations. App users will get a notice in the conversation screen as the group and individual chats are all end-to-end encrypted now.

The latest update that users have seen pop-ups on being in their conversations indicates the fact that; all the texts, phone calls, and the media files will be visible to people who are only included in the same thread.

As per a recent blog post, end-to-end encryption will facilitate improved security by locking out hackers, cyber criminals, oppressive regimes and also the WhatsApp officials to secure your data and keep it private. The system typically works by deploying a ‘lock’ for securing the messages between the groups or individual chats. Each text of the conversation will be having its own lock and key and so the exchanges will take place automatically. The lock is being paired with one distinct ‘key’ which only the recipient and sender will be able to access. Message on this platform will be visible only to the individual who has sent it and the individual/individuals who are/are there on the receiving end.

Living in this era of data digitalization, this phenomenal update will certainly offer an enhanced user experience. Thus, users need not turn on a specific setting for securing the messages- this latest version along with end-to-end encryption, which happens to be an automatic feature. Furthermore, it will also help the online marketing professionals to tap the market in a more structured way and expanding their outreach.
