As posted in WhatsApp official blog, “We are introducing a desktop app so you have a new way to stay in touch anytime and anywhere whether on your phone or computer at home or work.” Similar to the WhatsApp web, the desktop app will simply serve as an extension of the phone this app mirrors messages and conversations from your mobile.

The company has promised to be in sync with a mobile app for updating users, however, the Mountain view-based firm has started to bring more functionality. Since the application runs on the desktop natively, you will get support for the native desktop notifications and much more. This desktop version will be just like the WhatsApp web, which lets you text with family and friends while keeping the phone in your pocket. Users can simply download it directly from the firm’s website, scan the QR code by using their mobile for which, you need to search the ‘WhatsApp web’ option under settings.
